The No.2 overall pick in the recent NBA Draft, Lonzo Ball has suffered a calf injury in the Lakers semi-final match-up with the Dallas Mavericks in Las Vegas.
Despite playing just 21 minutes the dynamic point guard still posted a 16 point/10 assist double-double to go along with 4 rebounds. His efforts helped the Lakers advance past the Mavericks and into the final with a 108-98 win.
It was likely that the Lakers preserved their top asset by not letting him return to the game following the injury. Now it will be interesting to see whether they risk the calf injury in the final against the Portland Trailblazers, after they defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 87-82 in the other semi-final.
After a slow start in game 1 of the summer league where Ball shot just 1-11 from 3PT range and 2-15 from the field, he has certainly found his feet in the remaining games. He did it by posting a triple double against the Celtics, a 36 point/11 assist double-double against the 76ers and another double-double in a little over 3 quarters in the semi-final
Not only has Ball produced impressive stat-lines but he is also providing us with an impressive reel of highlights from precise passes to powerful dunks. Check out his game against the 76ers where he BALLed out in front of the world’s best player:
