The NBA trade deadline is less than 3 weeks away and the reigning champions are making moves to stay at the top come this post-season.
Today the Cavaliers dealt Chris Andersen & cash considerations to the Charlotte Hornets for a future second round pick. Andersen underwent season ending knee surgery in December and was essentially clogging up a roster spot in the process.
This gives the Cavaliers the option of filling the free roster spot with a piece that can help them remain champions. This could come in the form of a ‘playmaker’ such as Jose Calderon or Mario Chalmers. It could also mean that Derrick Williams is offered a permanent contract after his 10 day contract with the team expires.
